New York based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Jake Pinto is formally unveiling his solo project The YeahTones with the release of his most recent effort “What Could I Do.” Last week Pinto removed all of the band’s older material from their SoundCloud, which will be remixed and remastered before it’s uploaded again, so this newly premiered single serves as a fresh start and a more enthralling first taste of what The YeahTones are about.
Jake Pinto is no stranger to the stage. He’s spent the last few years providing backup vocals, playing keyboards, drum pads, and keytar with the stellar groove rock ensemble EMEFE. On “What Could I Do,” though, Pinto makes a clear attempt to seize the spotlight–he wrote and performed the lyrics and also played guitar and keyboards on the track. (Doug Berns plays bass, altopalo percussionist extraordinaire Dillon Treacy plays drums, and Ray Mason wails on the trombone.) The YeahTones explore a grittier, more urgent side on this blues-heavy rock ballad, which elevates Pinto’s vocal presence and the band’s overall sound to new and exciting places. Stream it above.
