What's This?

Last week, pop newcomer Ryn Weaver made her meteoric rise to the top of the Billboard emerging charts with her impressive debut offering, “OctaHate.” Now that the fanfare has subsided, though, we are left wondering “what’s next?” Like all things good in this world, there’s always more to look forward too, and remixes are no exception.

Despite Weaver‘s best efforts, Hunt for the Breeze may have given the songstress a run for her money with his shockingly addictive “flip” of “OctaHate.” In all fairness, it’s easy to see where the Virginia-native picked up some of his ideas: Cashmere Cat, who co-produced the original, appears to have greatly influenced Matin in this particular remix—at least, the direction he chose to take. His approach is simple and direct, finding a sound that’s more or less militaristic, what with all the stomping beats and swelling horns. With remixes like this, Ryn Weaver will be the talk of the town for at least one more week.
