For those who remember the 2011 indie-pop hit “Awkward,” it’s likely that the latest track from Australian quartet San Cisco will sound undeniably familiar. Known for their lo-fi garage pop and catchy hooks, “Magic” appears to be a seamless continuation of their earlier work. Scarlett Stevens shines yet again, not only for her effort on the drums, but also for her bubbly pop vocals, which take center stage on this track—and rightly so. Stevens voice adds a quirky touch to the group’s twee-pop sound, and helps to produce a track that is both sincerely dreamy and effortlessly cool.
“Magic” is set to be featured on the band’s upcoming sophomore album Graceland, and it already stands out as a clear highlight amidst a sea of other stellar tunes. Unfortunately for those in North America, Graceland won’t be hitting the shelves until March 17th. If you’re lucky enough to be in Australia, though, the wait for more great tracks from San Cisco is already over, with the album having been released on March 6th.
