Video: Shad - it ain't over

It’s hard not to feel a bit of pride when an artist from you’re hometown gets the respects from those that are highly respected themselves. Shad, a rapper who has done for Canadian hip-hop, what A$AP Rocky has done for Harlem, has been the back-bone of the underground hip-hop scene in London, (my hometown), and Canada for the last few years. But, despite his Juno and Polaris nominated album, The Old Prince, it seems as though the “taste-makers” have only recently caught onto the humbled MC.

In his most recent video for “it ain’t over” — a single which was released earlier this year off of Shad‘s mixtape, melancholy and the infinite shadness — Shad shows us his softer side as he attempts to impress the lady in his life with a bottle of Coke and a cool new “whip.” Sampling from Lenny Kravitz‘s hit-single, “It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over,” the single plays a perfect accompaniment to the nostalgic visuals, in the fun, yet seemingly low-budget video.
