Reincarnated from the guitar-pop antics of The Social Club, Swedish rock duo SLIDE produced an grittier, more anxiety-ridden sound for their first two newly released singles. The latter track “Floating” fully acknowledges the group’s pop-aligned past, sporting punchy guitar riffs and a soaring vocal hook (a satisfying hybrid of Grizzly Bear’s “Two Weeks” and the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?”, mixed with a dash of Cage The Elephant frontman Matt Shultz’ punky howl).
We’re pleased to premiere the music video for “Floating,” directed by Peder Bergstrand, which captures a touch of the surreal to accompany this straightforward yet searing rock song. Having previously collaborated with First Aid Kit and Naomi Pilgrim, Bergstrand helps “Floating” come to life in the stunning new visual. Watch the video above.
