For months now we’ve had our eye on Britain’s rising DJ duo, Snakehips, and their vast array of popping electronic tracks. Initially we were big fans of the duo’s bubbly love production “Miss U Always,” but ever since that time they have been fine-tuning their craft and even further increasing their profile with truly stellar originals like “On & On,” which we couldn’t have been more happy to see included our darling little friend George Maple on it. So, with all of this in mind, it’s hard to imagine how they could top it all off, but upon further listening, it appears they have found a way.
To really showoff their skill level, the pair have flexed some muscle in their newest release “Make It,” which, as we are keen to point out, really seems to go “hard in the paint.” No, the duo have not joined forces with one of our favourite up-and-coming Australian acts, however, like their trap counterparts TNGHT, Snakehips have managed to ignite some fire with a hard-hitting, almost reckless production, instead.
As the beats waver around, and the loop “do a dance” tentatively gets chopped and screwed throughout, a nasty sound starts to arise, making you want to bob your head and begin to throw your weight around. If you’re in the right environment (your own home), this is perfect, however, if you find yourself within the public sphere, you may want to show some constraint, or, as you’ll soon find out, could end up injuring your fellow patrons. You have been warned!
