They’ve been compared to Fleet Foxes, and also Mumford & Sons, but this indie-folk band is surely one that stands atop! With the blissful sounds of violin, acoustic guitar, piano, and cello, Malta’s Stalko will very quickly have you putting on your dance shoes. With a catchy lyrical chorus provided by the excellence of Tim Ellis and Mike Stivala’s accompanying alternating voices, no wonder Stalko‘s first single “In a Hurry” has people coming from everywhere to check out Malta’s up-and-coming indie music scene.
While Stalko‘s variety of insturments and range of voices blend “In a Hurry” into one hell of a folk song, the collision of thumping foots, and high strung violin also makes for a very nice welcome of warm Malta air. By supporting big name artists such as Adem and Owen Pallett, Stalko are also quickly making a name for themselves just in-time to release their first album in late 2012. Stalko aren’t just any band, they are the new Folkness of Malta. I hold my hands up, I am a believer in Stalko, hallelujah!
