What's This?

New York’s trendiest teenage indie rock trio Sunflower Bean are at it again. They’ve announced their debut album Human Ceremony via Fat Possum Records, to be released February 5. The first offering from the hotly anticipated LP is “Wall Watcher,” a thoroughly excellent track that the band have been playing live for several months. The studio effort is a far more impressive feat than the last few times I can recall seeing and hearing the track in person. It sounds bigger, fuller, and more sonically developed than anything on their Show Me Your Seven Secrets EP, somehow edgier and sharper but definitively more pop-driven. Where her vocals were slightly tame and unambitious, Julia Cumming’s voice is now an imposing force, confident in its ability to go neck-and-neck with scuzzy guitar riffs and tightly shuffling drums. Listen right now!!! It’s a jam.

Watch the weird and hilarious video for Sunflower Bean’s “I Hear Voice” single, shot on an iPhone 6.
