What's This?

Having be hailed as one of the biggest and best festivals in Europe, Sziget, which means “island” in Hungarian, enters into its 22nd year with one of the most promising and diverse lineups in the European festival circuit. Held every August in Northern Budapest on the Old Buda Island, a leafy 108 hectare island on the Danube River, the week-long festival has grown from a relatively low-profile student event to a fully-fledged tourist attraction. In fact, Sziget has become so well-known that in 2011 it was ranked amongst the best 5 festivals in Europe and was even heralded as one of the 10 best festivals by The Independent.

Recognition aside, Sziget attracts a wide range of visitors, and most importantly, musicians. With names like Outkast, Bombay Bicycle Club, Darkside, Bonobo, The Prodigy, Placebo, Skrillex, The Big Pink, Tom Odell, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Band of Skulls, Palma Violets, Manic Street Preachers, Jagwar Ma, Madness and Mount Kimbie, the organizers are pandering to their widest audience yet. All in all, the festival is expected to welcome over 100 acts to its lineup. No wonder Sziget is ranked one of the best festivals in Europe, with a lineup like that, it’d hard for festival-goes to miss!
