What's This?

Austin Texas-based TC Superstar had such a good time with the release of their late-spring 2019 album R & D that they decided to do it all over again with the deluxe edition. A move which seems perfectly reasonable considering the content of the record.

The deluxe record has all of the tracks off of the original release as well as 10 more, including the group’s new single “Call Me Easy.”

R & D stands for Ricky and Dana, the title characters of the story which the album tells. It’s an upbeat synth album tracking their fictional relationship from beginning to end, with interviews from the characters spliced in between the songs.

Featuring styles borrowed from a wide assortment of synth-pop pioneers from New Order to Bowie, TC Superstar’s well-crafted story of love and loss isn’t an easy listen for the brokenhearted, but by the end still leaves you feeling a little more hopeful.
