What's This?

Sydney, Australia based singer-songwriter Harry Heart’s solo project The Harry Heart Chrysalis released its debut EP in Februrary and the “Vex” single in September. The 21 year-old artist’s most recent output, the effervescent alt rock single “Ninety Six,” feels more genuine, more artistically sincere, than any of his previous efforts. His vocals are stark and supple, starting strong with the verse, “I wish somebody would just pick me up/ I spent the bigger part of winter with my back turned to my love.” Heart sounds especially convincing when his vocal cords tear into sharp lines like “Couldn’t feel a thing, but I could feel myself changing.” The production does much to counterpoint the lyrical despair, springy and sauntering guitar lines that call up a Dev Hynes-style fluttering of melody.
