The Hood Internet's 20 Best Mashups

The Chicago-native collaborative duo, The Hood Internet, began their career as online sensations thanks to their ingenius mashups of indie and hip-hop music. Their professional career launched last year with their first national tour and the release of their debut album Feat, featuring original songs with guest artists Class Actress, The Chain Gang of 1974, and Kid Static. One could easily draw comparisons of their style with the solo project Girl Talk, but Aaron Brink and Steve Reidell of The Hood Internet embody a distinctive aesthetic relevance. The songs blend organically and effortlessly to create something new out of used materials. While we have anxiously awaited the release of their next mixtape, Volume 7, we haven’t yet been given a release date. So to help tide us over until then, we have pulled together a list of our 20 favourite mashups from duo. Whether it’s a cross between LCD Soundsystem and Jay-Z, Mayer Hawthorne and M83, or Destiny’s Child and Justice, there is such a diverse selection of artists here you’re guaranteed to like at least one mashup here — even if it means indulging in a blend of Crystal Castles and a hint of Rihanna
