Typhoon - Common Sentiments

When Typhoon teamed up with Paste Magazine and Sennheiser last year to drop their expansive orchestral “Common Sentiments” during a live performance at SXSW, it seemed as if their powerfully rootsy single went unnoticed. While it did for a good deal of time, I have finally made the decision of shining some light on the single.

As it bursts at the seams with instrumentation, “Common Sentiments” brings meaning to the words “full sounding” thanks to its collection of horns, pounding drums and powerful lines. Kyle Morton, the lead singer behind this 13-piece Portland group, plants his poetic lyricism behind each track, and with the layering of rich vocals to back him up, songs like “Common Sentiments” become a breathtaking experience.
