What's This?

After rumours of a new Vampire Weekend album titled Lemon Sounds surfaced last week, XL Recordings (Vampire Weekend‘s label) were quick to slash the rumours and release an official statement calling the “supposed” new artwork and tracklisting “fake.” While the rumours were fake, it certainly created a lot of buzz around the new album, and if XL and VW have anything to be thankfully for, it’s that the buzz has carried onto the following week.

To finally put things to rest, Vampire Weekend published a surprisingly mysterious message at the bottom of the New York Times this morning with the message, “Modern Vampires of the City, May 7, 2013.” Having now been confirmed to be true, this new announcement comes along with some very dark album artwork (above), a tracklisting (below), and some most exciting tour dates, including one with Of Monsters & Men at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 5th.
