There really aren’t words that can describe how I feel when I listen to Alex G‘s music; I get bombarded by a range of emotions. It’s kind of like getting high, like the euphoric feeling you feel first, followed by the shitty crash. That’s the best way I can describe it. The Philly native has been on a roll ever since he released DSU, which I believe is the best record of the year. From working a cross country tour with Orchid Tapes label mate Elvis Depressedly and opening up for Gardens & Villa on their US tour–ready to embark on some UK dates–it seems like Alex is on top of the world and rightfully so.
He has recently released a video that is fitting for his dark and beautiful track “Hollow”. The video was directed by fellow Philadelphian John Vizzone and it incorporates fluid interplay with lights, band members wearing strange masks, and static black and white transitions. It is hard not to get lost in this eerie and melodic visual. DSU is set to get a UK release through Lucky Numbers set for November 10, for all you vinyl lovers out there.
