What's This?

Sometimes, all you need in life is a little melancholia to boot you out of bed in the morning and get you up and at ’em. “Savannah,” CHAMPS‘ jubilant new single, is more-or-less one of those songs. As the Isle of Wight’s pride and joy, CHAMPS have already got a full bed of supporters behind them, but with the upcoming release of their debut album Down Like Gold, these seaside brothers are looking to branch out to a wider audience—and “Savannah” will lead that effort.

CHAMPS lie somewhere between Clock Opera and Beach House with their softly woven mixture of blissful, sweeping backdrops and quivering harmonies. As a gentle ballad, “Savannah” imbues the band’s best features: clattering piano chords dip in and out of the single while breezy melodies effortless segue between the choruses. To put it simply, there’s a lighthearted feel about “Savannah” that proves too hard to resist.
