What's This?

Over the last decade, following the release of no less than four mixtapes and five EPs, this 21 year-old North London based female MC has made waves among hip-hop scenes in both the UK and overseas. On September 18, Little Simz took the plunge and dropped her much-anticipated debut full-length A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons, released on her own label Age 101: Music label. Born Simbi Ajikawo, Simz transposes American trap music to a uniquely British landscape, presenting herself as an impressively versatile performer–donning the rampant, hyped-up lyrical flow of grime rapper Skepta with the effortless cool of Willow Smith.

On Little Simz‘s newest video, released just days before A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons, the rapper documents her time in Los Angeles, experiencing the residual stress of travel and fame. She’s joined by Kent Jamz, a California based artist who provides a stellar, auto-tuned chorus. The track itself does not appear on the new record, but this uncharacteristically restive Little Simz cut easily stands on its own.

Stream cuts from A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons below.
