What's This?

Northern, VA-based band The Duskwhales are a shaggy-haired trio that make an upbeat blend of pop and rock. Their self-titled debut was a healthy dose of upbeat rhythms and psychedelic grooves, situated somewhere between Of Montreal and Twin Peaks—not too far removed from their latest single “Emerald Skates.” In-keeping with it’s lighthearted sound, the song’s new video finds the band caught in an old-school suburban showdown.

In an email with Indie Current, drummer Chris Baker had this to say of the clip: “The premise of the video was inspired in large part by the movie The Warriors. It was a lot of fun relearning how to rollerblade for the video. There was a period leading up to the shoot where after band practice each week we would just go out and skate for hours at like 1 in the morning. We learned a few tricks, got a few scabs, it was a good time.”
