After briefly touring around their homeland, Australia’s The Jungle Giants are back with another top tune, “I Am What You Want Me To Be.” Although it may seem like they’ve been around for forever, you might be surprised to learn that these Aussies only really came into the spotlight a couple of years ago. Regardless, these incredibly young talents have gifted us, as always, with another top-notch tune to perfectly coincide with their greatly hyped Australian tour, and their set at the renowned Splendour in the Grass music festival.
For this new release, the band have continued with their light-hearted and chipper indie-rock, graciously using jangly guitar work and various other instrumentals to a complete an upbeat, feel-good piece of music. To accompany the track, there is also a vibrant and playful new video which, as we may have just found out, is an ode towards those in search of a kinder, less materialistic world… or, at the very least, those who love chess?
Greed has poisoned men’s souls; has barricaded the world with hate; has goose stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want…. More than machinery, we need humanity more than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness, without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.. How good is chess?
If this is any indication of what we can expect off their debut album, which is due for release late this year, I want it now! This will please their fans, win new fans, and solidify their position as one of Australia’s best new indie-rock acts.
