What's This?

We all have a fear of growing old, that death is creeping around the corner waiting for the exact moment to snatch us away. It’s a scary feeling and dwelling on all that really doesn’t do the human mind any good. But for Boston native Tim Oxton, he uses this fear and transmits it into a very powerful song. For those who don’t know Oxton, he’s the head hancho running the lo-fi project Wakes. Around June he released his debut record titled Feral Youth, which was a good mix of surf pop intertwined with his brash and strong vocals. Now he returns with a new track called “Gonzo,” which demonstrates a good, honest message with an overall feeling of nostalgia. The track showcases again Oxton’s ear for catchy reverbed melodies and smooth surf vibes. Oxton howls “I guess I’ll sit and stay awhile/ Cause in the end I’m never gonna get out alive.”
