What's This?

In addition to throwing parties–including a residency at Berghain’s notorious Panorama Bar–the Berlin based electronic label Leisure System boast heavyweight talents on their roster like Visionist, Jimmy Edgar, and Machinedrum (the latter two performing as JETS). 2015 has seen the label releasing records by lesser known talents, showcasing the progressive talents of artists like JoeFarr (whose track “Standard Issue” is a four-alarm fire of raging techno) and, most recently, Will Ward. The producer/DJ, also one-third of the London electronic outfit Circle Traps, will make his debut on Leisure System with the Interval One EP, the second in the label’s Gridlocks 12″ series. The EP’s lead single, “Interval One,” eases through an ambient fog of unearthly synthwork before the beat picks up and the momentum accelerates. But, despite the surging, limb-flailing backbone of a bass cadence that occurs at the drop and persists throughout, the track maintains a remarkable sense of tranquility.

A track called “Portion” from the forthcoming Interval One EP, due out June 8, will feature Will Ward‘s Circle Traps bandmate Jack Wyllie as well as Duncan Bellamy of Portico. Listen to Circle Traps‘ “Machine City” below.
