In the last couple of years, a handful of promising musicians have emerged from Israel’s once quiet music scene, including Garden City Movement, Adi Ulmansky and Asaf Avidan. Hoping to join the ranks of the aforementioned artists is Tel Aviv-based singer/producer Yotam Mahler, who, today, is sharing his debut single with us here at Indie Current.
A distant departure from his earlier efforts, “Late Bloomer” is an intoxicating blend of strings, electronics and Mahler’s soulful vocals. Although he incorporates modern production techniques, Mahler draws a great deal of inspiration from the early 90’s, with influences ranging from R Kelly to Michael Jackson.
Listen to “Late Bloomer” below and keep an eye out for Mahler’s debut EP, What Is Your Art?, which will be released later this year.
