I don’t know much about Young Thug, and, frankly, I don’t care to learn much more about him. However, if there’s one thing I must commend the Atlanta-based rapper on, is his ability to appeal to a large demographic—one which includes production heavyweight, Ryan Hemsworth. Though there’s a wealth of difference between these two, Hemsworth doesn’t think of Young Thug as a guilty pleasure; rather, he sees him as a colleague of sorts.
About a month ago, Hemsworth stripped back Young Thug’s boastful 420 anthem, “Stoner,” and gave it a rather unexpected reboot. Under a bed of placid guitar work, Hemsworth lays down bits and pieces of the original track, cherry picking one-liners and including a couple of notable verses. Although we only have a preview at the moment, you can really get the full picture from the two and half minutes Ricky Eat Acid decided to include in his Fortyounce guest mix.
